History

  1. Built in 1840, this windmill was originally part of a larger complex that included a grain mill. Over the years, it underwent several transformations, including the installation of a steam engine in 1898 and a diesel motor in 1918. The mill ceased operations by 1923.

Architecture

The Liffersmühle is a säulenstumpf (column tower) windmill with a diameter of 10 meters and an inner height of 7 meters, standing at a height of 5 meters. Its foundation is built from hand-form-cemented bricks (7:14:28cm) with a lime-zinc mortar.

Current Status and Use

The mill is currently disused and has been converted into apartments. It is listed as an historic building and a heritage site, with reference number 140.
