Molino Stucky

The Molino Stucky is a Neo-Gothic building located on Giudecca island in Venice, Italy.

History

  • Built between 1884 and 1895 by Swiss businessman Giovanni Stucky, the Molino Stucky was initially constructed as a flour mill supplied by boats across the lagoon. It also operated as a pasta factory.
  • The complex underwent extensions in 1895 but began to decline in the 1910s before being permanently closed in 1955.

In 1994, the Acqua Pia Antica Marcia company took over the Molino Stucky and initiated restoration work by the Sovrintendenza alle Belle Arti in 1998. The complex was later acquired by the Hilton Hotels chain in the mid-2000s with plans to transform it into a hotel and conference centre.
